💰 Spending in Michigan’s 14 U.S. House races in 2018 topped $80 million this year, doubling the 2016 total and marking the most expensive Congressional campaign cycle in Michigan history.

The 8th Congressional District was by far the most expensive in Michigan in 2018 – the competitive race between former Republican Rep. Mike Bishop and U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly, attracted $28.3 million. It was also the most expensive individual U.S. House race ever in Michigan, toppling the previous record of $14 million in 2010 during a competitive contest between former Rep. Mark Schauer and Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton.
