Once again, bowing to the pressure of industry rather that the public good, the Trump administration has loosened regulation on nursing homes by changing the fine structure so that it “reduces the impact of the penalty… giving nursing homes less incentive to fix faulty and dangerous practices before someone gets hurt.”

Let’s tell our Members of Congress that facilities that care for our loved ones need well-enforced regulations to keep our elderly safe.

Trump Administration Cuts The Size Of Fines For Health Violations In Nursing Homes

Inspectors are citing facilities more often than during the Obama administration. But in response to industry prodding, the average fine is nearly a third lower, and the total assessed is down.
