The National Bison Range Returned to Indigenous People
In January, the National Bison Range, comprising 18,800 acres of grassland, woodland, and wildlife, will be returned to the Confederated
Salish and Kootenai Native American Tribes (CSKT) of Montana’s Flathead Indian Reservation, after the U.S. took it 113 years ago. The CSKT sued the US to reclaim the land in 1971 and won the case. However, it was later declared illegal for the CSKT to actually take the Range back, thus nullifying the ruling. The case itself has been fought in court for 40 years. – Nation of Change, tinyurl.com/lxpsogg5Indigenous peoples reclaim the National Bison Range – NationofChange
