On August 28, 1963, 58 years ago, over 250,000 people gathered in Washington DC and in that time and space, the Dream was proclaimed. It was a powerful, peaceful protest.
For our event, “We will look to those heroes, from our past, for lessons, and inspiration as we continue their important work into the future.”
They left a legacy of lessons and inspiration. We are poised and must continue their important work into the future.
We will present a powerful, verbal and interactive commemoration, via a “Reader’s Theater” presentation, to commemorate the historical March on Washington,1963.
We will look to the words of our elders, who were there, preparing the way for us, We The People
We will hear their voices, and remember that we must carry on.
We will remember, through spoken word… Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, A.Philip Randolph, and many others.
We will proclaim the urgency of now and why we must eliminate the Filibuster.
We will proclaim why the For The People’s Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act must be passed, now, and become law.
The time is now to do what’s right. This will be an interactive commemoration.
Registered attendees who would like to participate in the historical/interactive “Reader’s Theater, can notify us.
All posters and signs must be peaceful in description and in conjunction with this event. 2pm Central Time.
