Single Payer Healthcare Press Conference and Rally

State Representative Yousef Rabhi (Dist. 53, Ann Arbor) is announcing his new MICare bill on Monday, July 2. This bill is designed to create a single payer system in Michigan – one which will provide ALL Michiganders health insurance coverage with no premiums, no deductibles, and no co-pays. It will remove the expensive insurance middle-man from health care costs, giving Michiganders health insurance coverage FREE AT THE POINT OF SERVICE. If passed, MICare should save Michigan’s citizens $20 Billion.

According to the UN Human Rights Council, “Health care is a human right.” We all regularly need health care, so it makes no sense to involve “insurance” companies to cover those costs.  Health insurance companies are making excessive profits, while creating more and more administrative costs, and ensuring by their profit-driven behavior that we have to pay higher and higher premiums and deductibles. The drive for profit in the health care insurance industry has led to the loss of insurance coverage for millions of Americans over the years, and diminished coverage for more and more care-related services for all of us. Sadly, we are the only developed country allowing such an outmoded and avaricious system of “health” “care” “insurance” – and it is vitally important that we all support the drive for single payer at the grassroots and legislative level in both our country, and our state.
